About HigherEd AI Current

HigherEd AI Current makes sense of AI’s impact on higher education.

Artificial intelligence is changing higher education faster than institutions can comfortably absorb it. New tools, capabilities, policies, risks, and expectations are emerging continuously, often accompanied by as much hype as useful guidance.

HigherEd AI Current exists to help higher education professionals understand what is changing, why it matters, and what it means for their institutions and their work.

What We Cover

HigherEd AI Current explores artificial intelligence across the higher education enterprise, including:

  • Leadership and AI governance

  • Teaching, learning, and course design

  • Assessment and academic integrity

  • Faculty use of AI

  • Student AI literacy and responsible use

  • Academic and institutional policy

  • AI risk, ethics, and accountability

  • Student success and support services

  • Workforce preparation and professional credentials

  • Emerging technologies, including agentic AI

  • The future of colleges, universities, and academic work

The goal is not to promote every new AI tool or react to every headline. It is to separate meaningful developments from the noise and examine their practical implications for higher education.

Who HigherEd AI Current is For

HigherEd AI Current is written for people who are helping higher education navigate the age of AI, including:

  • Presidents, provosts, deans, department chairs, and other academic leaders

  • Faculty and instructional professionals

  • Academic technology and instructional design professionals

  • Student success, advising, career services, and support professionals

  • AI governance, policy, compliance, and risk leaders

  • Higher education professionals seeking to understand how AI is changing their field

You do not need to be an AI specialist. The emphasis is on clear explanation, practical interpretation, and informed decision-making.

What to Expect

HigherEd AI Current combines analysis, commentary, research, and practical perspectives on the developments shaping higher education.

Some pieces will examine major emerging issues. Others will unpack a specific technology, policy question, governance challenge, or institutional decision. Content may also accompany episodes of the HigherEd AI Current YouTube channel, providing additional context, sources, or analysis.

There is no artificial daily or weekly publishing schedule. New content will be published when there is something useful and timely to contribute.
